Why Babies Need Hearing Protection at Royals Games
The electric atmosphere that makes Kauffman Stadium so much fun can be overwhelming for infant ears. Here's what little ones are exposed to:
Crowd Roar
A packed Kauffman Stadium crowd cheering together can reach ear-damaging levels, especially during a rally or a walk-off.
Fireworks & Pyrotechnics
Home run and post-game fireworks produce sudden, sharp blasts that can startle and potentially harm developing infant ears.
“Get Loud” Scoreboard Cues
Kauffman's scoreboard actively cues the crowd to get loud, and the stadium PA system is engineered for maximum volume impact — sustained exposure at these levels is not safe for young children.
Home Run Celebrations
That collective roar when the Royals go deep is one of the most intense sounds in baseball — and it can happen multiple times a game.
“Take Me Out With the Crown”
The seventh inning stretch sing-along is a beloved Kauffman tradition — and, like the rest of the between-inning entertainment, it's produced at concert-level volumes.

We took our little one to his first Royals game, and these earmuffs were a game-changer! The crowd got loud after every big play, but he stayed calm and comfortable the whole time. So glad we brought them!
Our toddler had the best time at the Royals game! The stadium can get surprisingly loud, especially when the crowd gets cheering, and his BANZ earmuffs helped him enjoy every inning without getting overwhelmed.
These were perfect for our baby’s first baseball game! She wore her earmuffs almost the entire time and even took a little nap while we watched the Royals. We felt so much better knowing her ears were protected.
We never go to a Royals game without our BANZ earmuffs now. Between the music, PA announcements, and loud cheers, there’s a lot going on for little ears. Our son stayed happy and enjoyed the game with us!
Iconic Fountains, Iconic Crowd Noise
The crowd, the scoreboard hype, fireworks, and PA system combine to create sound levels that can be unsafe for babies and young children — without them even realizing it.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything parents ask before bringing their baby to a Royals game for the first time.
Can babies attend Kansas City Royals games?
Yes! Many Royals fans bring babies and young children to Kauffman Stadium. Children under a certain age often receive free admission (check the Royals' official website for current policy). The key is being prepared — hearing protection, comfortable clothing, and a flexible plan for leaving early if needed make it enjoyable for the whole family.
How loud is Kauffman Stadium?
Our own BANZ® Protect app has recorded crowd noise climbing into the high 80s and 90dB range during big moments at Kauffman. Sound levels above 75dB can be harmful with prolonged exposure, and the safe threshold for babies is even lower. Hearing protection is strongly recommended for any child under 10 attending MLB games.
What age can wear Baby BANZ earmuffs?
Baby BANZ are designed for infants from birth through approximately 2 years. Kidz BANZ are designed for children aged approximately 2–10 years. Both provide NRR 26dB noise reduction. Baby BANZ fit smaller heads; Kidz BANZ accommodate more growth.
Will my baby keep the earmuffs on during the game?
Most parents are pleasantly surprised — babies often settle quickly once the earmuffs are on because the noise reduction is immediately soothing. Many babies fall asleep wearing them. We recommend putting them on before entering the stadium so your baby adjusts before the noise starts.
What's the difference between Baby BANZ and Kidz BANZ?
Baby BANZ (ages 0–2): Extra-soft, flexible headband that fits newborns. Kidz BANZ (ages 2–10): Padded headband, sturdier construction for active toddlers and kids. Both offer identical NRR 26dB noise reduction. If your child is around 2 years old, either may fit.
Are there Royals-colored BANZ earmuffs?
We don't currently make royal blue or gold earmuffs, but many Royals fans choose our Black or White Baby BANZ and make them their own — parents have used stickers, fabric markers, and paint to add team flair. White BANZ are especially popular at day games because they stay cooler in the sun.
Can I bring BANZ earmuffs into Kauffman Stadium?
Yes — hearing protection devices for children are permitted at MLB stadiums. BANZ earmuffs are compact, lightweight, and fit easily in a diaper bag. Check the Royals' official bag policy for any updated stadium entry requirements before your visit.
Do pediatricians recommend hearing protection at sports events?
Yes. The American Academy of Pediatrics and audiologists widely recommend protecting children's hearing in loud environments, including concerts, sports events, and fireworks. Children's ears are more sensitive than adults' and noise-induced hearing damage is cumulative and permanent. BANZ earmuffs are trusted by over 2 million families worldwide.
